Online Programs for School Leaders, Educators & Students (Remote)

Overview
COGx is a research and development firm in applied cognitive science committed to closing the
gap between teaching and learning. We do so by translating research on the science of learning
into evidence-based programs that enhance teaching and learning for partner organizations.

Expectations
We are looking for a part-time Program Facilitator position to support COGx partner schools adopt
our online Programs for School Leaders, Educators and Students on the Science of Learning.

We enroll cohorts who complete their respective programs at a pace dictated by our partner
organizations. The student program is between 10-14 hours (6 modules) while the educator
programs can be up to 45 hours (12 modules) and the leader programs are usually under 5 hours
to complete (2-3 modules). Participants complete asynchronous content and synchronous virtual
training (Application Hour) and peer-reviewed assignments. The Program Facilitator ensures the
trainings deliver on the expected impact by coaching participants on the application of what they
learn, providing answers to online questions, analyzing the data/progress of participants and
leading synchronous meetings with each cohort enrolled.

To succeed in this role, the candidate must have relevant experience leading online courses for adult
learners and/or professional learning programs for educators as well as an understanding of how
cognitive science can inform effective teaching and learning.

To make an immediate impact in this role you will need to use your experience with education,
cognitive science, and, ideally, coaching to support participants. You will be a liaison and
consultant between the organizations and COGx. You will respond to messages from the program
users and facilitate discussion forums consistently throughout each PD program. You will also
facilitate periodic Application Hour meetings with each cohort, reviewing their experience in the
modules thus far and providing collaborative discussion and/or activities to support their learning
and application of the program material.

Prior experience in education and/or a position where you coached other educators in developing
their teaching methods is required to be considered for this role. Our ideal candidate will have
experience in how cognitive science applies to learning. You must be highly driven, organized and
an exceptional communicator, verbally and in writing.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Demo Programs (Prospective Partners)
    – Lead guided tour of our various online programs to prospective COGx partners.
  2. Program Design (customization for COGx Partners):
    – Propose training plan and enrollment based on the partner organization’s timeline, goals, and needs.
  3. COGx Partner Support (Ensure Impact):
    – Consistently respond to participants working through their respective program to support their user experience and comprehension of the program material.
    – Facilitate discussion forums to ensure the appropriate application of material.
    – Compile and analyze participant response data from program surveys, activities, quizzes, discussion forums, and assignments to develop an understanding of the cohort’s thoughts and experience patterns.
    – Develop and lead Application Hour meetings for each cohort to support participants in their comprehension and application of program material through synchronous, collaborative discussion and activities.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual – Must be fluent in Spanish & English (required)
  • 10+ years of experience in education and/or educator coaching, ideally K-12
  • Experience in maintaining positive relationships with partner organizations, which includes
    being flexible and adaptive to client needs
  • Agile thinker and dynamic problem-solver that is easy to work with, pragmatic and
    assertive, while also open to new approaches and ideas
  • An interest in coaching/mentoring educators through professional learning and/or training
    programs
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Education / Cognitive Science / Neuroscience
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to a changing organization
  • Strong communication skills, both in writing and presentations, leveraging technology
    (experience managing courses on LMS)
  • Must have excellent listening skills in delivering customer requested solutions
  • Passion for applying the science of learning to improve learning outcomes
  • Ability to use, demonstrate, stay current and drive industry trends internally and externally
