Learn How COGx Supported MTC Member Schools’ Journey To Mastery
COGx has worked closely with administrators, teachers, and students from MTC member schools globally applying the Science of Learning to improve teaching and learning. Across a diverse range of schools, encompassing various types, sizes, and student age groups there was one common thread: the goal of answering the question- “How will teaching and learning change at our school to align with a mastery transcript?”.
Educators are far more effective at teaching what they know if they master how students learn. Yet, this formation is rarely included in per-service training or in-service training. Ignoring this does not set up educators or students to succeed. COGx closes this gap with a robust, flexible and proven program offering that can be customized to meet each organization’s needs. Through modules, expert coaching and guidance as well as application guides, educators learn how to design and deliver curriculum so students actually learn.
The following set of programs are 7-12 hours each and derived from the Developing Sophisticated Learners curriculum. Each consists of 3-4 self-led modules which are complemented with synchronous group collaboration, assignments, and workshops to support educators.

Schools ask students to learn without explicitly teaching them how to do so effectively. Research reveals they rely on the least effective strategies to learn. This causes students to work too hard and/or underperform. An education is incomplete if we fail to teach our students how to learn optimally. COGx closes this gap by democratizing the science of learning for students with various versions of the program for middle school through college-level students.
The instructional design of the program adheres to the scientific principles of human learning. We incorporated methodologies that support mastery of content and transfer of skills. As such, the majority of the course is active learning. Each module presents an engaging learning experience through which students are learning-by-doing, through storytelling and collaboration. Students demonstrate their learning to authentic audiences of their peers and beyond.
The Facilitator Guide is a resource that helps teachers who are supporting their students. It contains logistics, language to use with students when introducing the program, how to check student progress, as well as optional lesson plans and activities.
